Lacrosse NS is pleased to announce the addition of Lindsay Sanderson to its Provincial Head Coaching ranks for the 2015 season.  This season, Lindsay will be the Co-Coach of both the Midget and Junior Mens Box Lacrosse Provincial Teams.

Drafted into Major (Senior A) following his Junior eligibility, Sanderson played two seasons in Fergus, Ontario, before joining with the fledgling Dufferin (Orangeville) Northmen Senior Men’s team in 1978. Along with his brother Terry, he spent time playing Major with the Brampton Excelsiors.

Sanderson was 18 when he started out behind the bench, coaching both minor hockey and lacrosse. However, the sport of lacrosse was where he made his mark, coaching everything from the tyke age level right up to stints with Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto and Philadelphia in the National Lacrosse League (NLL), serving as Head Coach and GM in Philadelphia from ’05-‘09.

He has also served many roles with the Orangeville Northmen Executive, and is attributed with being a driving force behind the organization’s perennial success over the years. Inducted into the Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2010, Sanderson continues to be involved with the sport, currently GM of the Barrie Lakeshores in the Ontario Junior ‘A’ Lacrosse league, while also serving as Head Coach of the Senior/Junior Lakeshores team over the past decade.

"I am excited for the opportunity to give back to my native province", comments Sanderson. "My goal is to support the young players from Nova Scotia as they look to compete on national lacrosse stage at the Midget & JR. B levels".

While coaching two teams at once can be a challenging task, Lindsay is pleased to welcome LNS Technical Director Chet Koneczny as his Co-Coach for both the Midget and Junior Teams this year.

Koneczny, himself a former NLL player, was drafted by the Toronto Rock in 2004 before going on to play with Orlando, Washington and most recently of the Colorado Mammoth of the NLL. Further to his success in the NLL, Koneczny also represented the Czech Republic in many international events, including; the 2010 World Lacrosse Championship, the 2011 FIL World Indoor Lacrosse Championship, and the 2014 World Lacrosse Championships in Denver, Colorado.

“Lindsay’s desire to help grow the sport in NS and reconnect with the Province he grew up in is a huge opportunity for aspiring lacrosse players in our Province”, LNS Technical Director, Chet Koneczny commented. “Without a doubt our players on both of these teams are going to learn a great deal from Lindsay’s higher level teachings; as am I”.

Joining Lindsay and Chet on the bench will be Brandon Sanderson as Assistant Coach. A recent transplant to NS, Sanderson, a 10 x National Champion will join the Midget and Junior Teams as Offensive Coach.
