2016 Nova Scotia Field Lacrosse League season is here. This season, the Executive Board has spent the off season redesigning the NSFLL in the hope of increasing skill development, fun and alignment with LTAD to better grow the game, and increase opportunity for future generations of Nova Scotia field lacrosse players.

Check out the new designed website with even more information.  www.nsfll.ca

Listed below are some of the changes you will see this year in the NSFLL

Age Divisions
The NSFLL will now better align with the CLA in its age divisions running a U9, U18, U15 and U13 age divisions.

Women’s Field Lacrosse
Women's Field Lacrosse in Nova Scotia has a new identity, a new logo and a new website! The Bluenose Women's Field Lacrosse League is excited to now be accepting online registration.

Formation of teams
There will be NO TRYOUTS for teams, all players registered will be placed on a team.  Depending on numbers, there may be multiple teams at an age level.  All age levels (except U9) will play 10 on 10 lacrosse which will offer the opportunity to develop better field lacrosse IQ.

Practice
Teams within an age group will have weekly practices, which will allow coaching staff to not only focus on individual skill development, but also on team concepts for field lacrosse, e.g. offensive formations, slide package, etc.  These practices will NOT be run before games, but each team will have an hour and half practice during the week, to build team concepts.

Games
U13, U15 age groups will play bi-weekly games between other teams within their age division (with call up to fill some holes if needed).  As well all teams (including U18) will be entered into three 1-day Maritime Jamborees.  Jamborees will be held in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, and will focus on the opportunity to increase game play. These Jamborees will give players/teams the opportunity to develop their skills game situations, as well as expose them to other youth around the Maritimes with similar interests.

Field/Location
All practices and bi-weekly games will be held at St. Stephen grass field.  The field is located next to St. Stephen's Elementary School at 3669 Highland Avenue, Halifax.

Maritime Jamborees
As mentioned above, each province will host a Jamboree within their own province.  All teams will be entered into the three Jamborees which will happen once a month.  Location has not been determined, but below are dates for each Jamboree.
  • New Brunswick - September 17th, 2016
  • Prince Edward Island - October 15th, 2016
  • Nova Scotia - Either October 20 or November 5, 2016 (in HRM)
