Please see the joint communication from both the U15 & U18 Men's Field Lacrosse Provincial Teams regarding the next steps for both of these teams for the remainder of the 2017 playing season;
"Thank you for coming to tryouts for the men's U15 and U18 provincial field lacrosse teams. We were really pleased that everyone came ready to learn and practice. We saw lots of improvement in just the few sessions that we had together, and are really looking forward to working with you throughout the season.
As we talked about, and we’re sure you could tell, we need to improve our numbers. We met with Lacrosse Nova Scotia last week and determined that it is not realistic to take either team to nationals this year. However, we still want to put together the best U15 and U18 provincial teams that we can, and really focus on skill development and game knowledge.
We have come up with the following plan:
1. Neither the U15 nor the U18 team will travel to nationals in Saskatoon this year.
2. Both teams will participate in the "Maritime Cup". Nova Scotia is hosting this year in Halifax (Saint Mary's University Field) on July 22 and 23. Teams from NS, NB, and PEI are set to participate.
3. We will aim to have 3 practices per week. We currently have field time booked at St. Stephen's field (same place as tryouts) on Tuesday and Friday from 6:00pm – 8:00pm and on Sunday between 4:00pm – 8:00pm (Sunday will likely be a two hour practice in that time slot). Our next practice will be
Friday, June 23rd. If fields are closed due to weather, we will either cancel practice or maybe do a get together somewhere else on occasion (i.e. to watch a game, have a rules session, stick stringing, etc.).
4. We are investigating other opportunities for games in August. Lacrosse Nova Scotia is helping with this, and is reaching out to NB, PEI, and other non-provincial teams to see what we might be able to coordinate on this front. More information on that to come.
5. At this point, we are planning to order Team NS shorts, polos, and reversible pinnies. We won't be asking players to invest in traditional game jerseys.
6. We would like to invite any potential players who have not yet attended tryouts, but perhaps were hesitant due to the logistics and cost of a trip to Saskatoon for nationals, or for other reasons. We are hoping that we might have some additional players come out as a result. If you know of anyone who would still like to tryout for the team, please encourage them to complete the online registration (
this registration can be completed below), and come to our next practice.
7. We are going to hold at least one "try field lacrosse clinic". We expect that there are a number of potential field lacrosse players who have some lacrosse experience, but might not be familiar with the field lacrosse game. Your attendance at these sessions will be of benefit to you and to potential players as well, so please plan to attend. There would be no cost to attend these clinics. If you know of anyone who might like to come learn about field lacrosse, please encourage them to come out for this. The date will be announced shortly, but we are looking at a tentative date of
Sunday, June 24 during part of our regular practice window.

Tryout Cost
The cost of tryouts will be $55/player.
Rain Cancellation
As these tryouts are being held on a grass field, we will do our best to contact all who have registered via email if there are any cancellations due to weather.
