Halifax set to host Female National Box Lacrosse Championships

July 19, 2018 – The 2018 CLA Female Box Lacrosse National Championships, the first national championship of the year, will kick-off this Saturday in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The tournament, which will feature seven teams representing four provinces, will run from July 21-25 at the BMO Centre.

The Opening Ceremonies for the Female Box Nationals will be held July 21st at 6:00pm at the BMO Centre, Bedford (61 Gary Martin Dr, Bedford NS B4B 0G7). The first game of the tournament will be played following the Opening Ceremonies, at 8:00pm as Team NS takes on Team BC in Midget Girls division action.

The Female National Box Lacrosse Championships are an annual event that showcases the top Canadian female athletes in the discipline of Box Lacrosse in the Bantam & Midget age divisions.

2018 will mark the second consecutive year that Canada’s best young female lacrosse players will travel to Halifax for the event.

The bantam division will see defending champions Ontario, who won a closely contested 5-3 game over British Columbia in the 2017 finals, battle against B.C., Alberta and Nova Scotia for this year’s crown.

Meanwhile, British Columbia, who went undefeated in the midget division last year, capped off by an 8-1 win in the finals over Ontario, will try to retain their midget title against Ontario and Nova Scotia.

Event Information/Schedule of Events
The 2018 Female Nationals kicks off with the Opening Ceremonies at the BMO Centre at 6pm (AST), followed by Team NS Midget Girls taking on Team BC Midget Girls at 8pm, in the first game of the tournament! Starting Sunday through until Tuesday there will be 6 games per day at the BMO Centre. The start times of these games each day are; 9am, 10:30am, 1:30pm, 3pm, 4:30pm, and 6pm.
