NS Privateers update from the 2019 Aleš Hřebeský Memorial

The NS Privateers faced the Glasgow Clydesiders in Quarterfinal action from the 2019 Ales Hrebesky Memorial Tournament. It was an awesome back and forth match-up of two skilled teams, but ultimately the Clydesiders were victorious 7 – 5. Goals for the Privateers were scored by: John MacDonald, Jamie Dunbar, Luke Parker, Breton Penney, and Paddy Quinn. Goalie Mitch Hannigan faced 23 shots in the game.

With the QF loss, the Privateers next played their fellow countrymen in the consolation Semi-Final match-up against the Alberta Warriors. In yet another close match, the Privateers ultimately fell to the Warriors by a score of 5 – 4. Goals for the Privateers were scored by: Drew MacDonald, Thomas Crane (2), and Luke Parker. Goalie Mitch Hannigan had a good match, facing 23 shots on net.

The loss in the consolation SF put the Privateers in the 7th place game against the Turku Titans, from Finland. Much like the other contests this tournament, the Privateers faced a tough opponent and the game was tight right up until the end. With less then five minutes left to play in the match the Privateers were down 6 – 4 to the Titans, until the Privateers went on a run of scoring three goals (Paddy Quinn – 2, Jamie Dunbar – 1) to pull out a last minute victory over the Titans. Paddy Quinn scored 3 goals in total this game, with his final goal being the game winner in the 30th minute of the match. Goals were scored by: Jasper Goodwin, Trey Carvery, Gavin Quigley, Paddy Quinn (3), and Jamie Dunbar.

Although not the result they had hoped for, the Privateers (as always) represented the province of NS well on the international stage. We are beyond proud of our senior athletes, and their accomplishments!
