Lacrosse NS is pleased to announce that Scott McMullen has been named as one of three Finalist for Official of the Year for NS at the Support4Sport Annual Sport Awards!

Scott is a Level 5 Men’s Field lacrosse official. After vigorous testing, Scott was chosen to officiate the “blue division” at the 2018 FIL World Lacrosse Championships in Israel.  The blue division was compiled of the best lacrosse countries in the world who were selected based on results at the 2014 world championships. Scott’s highlights from the world championships include officiating the first game of the tournament, working as the head official in a quarterfinal, and officiating a semi-final. With the exception of officiating in a world championship final, Scott has officiated at the highest level anyone in the world can from a Men's Field Officials perspective. In addition to the time he spends to better himself as a men's field official, he also volunteers his time as the Referee-in-Chief on the Lacrosse NS Board, officiates box lacrosse, mentors officials, and facilitates clinic for the National Officials Certification Program (NOCP).

And the finalists are . . . Sport Nova Scotia announces 2019 Support4Sport Awards finalists

Halifax, NS (May 29, 2019) – The greatest in the provincial sport sector will be recognized this Saturday, June 1 at the Support4Sport Awards hosted by Sport Nova Scotia. Among them are world champions, leading officials, devoted coaches and faithful volunteers. “We expect this year to be the biggest recognition night that we’ve ever hosted” said Jamie Ferguson, CEO of Sport Nova Scotia. “We will be handing out over 250 awards and we can’t wait to celebrate the best of the best in the Nova Scotian sport industry on Saturday night.”

The Support4Sport Awards recognize the achievements of Nova Scotia’s greatest athletes, teams, coaches, officials and volunteers in amateur sport over the past year. Each of the finalists were nominated by their provincial sport organization as the greatest in their sport. Their achievements were judged through a multi-level selection process that considers their athletic performance throughout the year as well as their top achievement of the season. “We are excited and proud to celebrate amateur sport in Nova Scotia” said Bob MacKinnon, President & CEO of the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation. “The dedication and excellence celebrated at the Support4Sport Awards are second to none and it is an honour to recognize those who are committed to sport throughout the year.”

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on June 1, 2019 at the Halifax Convention Centre. Additional awards to be announced on June 1 include the Sport Makes a Difference Award, the Community Sport Organization Award and the Chair Award. Sport Nova Scotia and Support4Sport will also recognize the Volunteers of the Year and Sponsors of the Year from each of the Provincial Sport Organizations.
