2019-10-20

Nova Scotian Brian Huyghue is playing for Team Canada Senior Men's Field Team at the Fall Classic in Baltimore. This tournament is the first stage of the selection process for the 2022 Worlds. He scored a goal in their game against the University of Virginia Team. Read More.

Brian played box lacrosse with the Halifax Hurricanes through Jr A.  He played Men's Field Lacrosse in the Nova Scotia Field Lacrosse League, as well.  He was a Team NS provincial box team player throughout his minor and junior career and he played on Team NS Men's Field provincial teams, as well.

Brian took the initiative to find an opportunity to play at a high level in the US college system.  He was accepted to Limestone College in South Carolina, one of the premier Division II programs in the US, where he played lacrosse on the team and won the National Final in his junior year. The team also made it to the National Final in senior year.  He was also a Conference Carolina's Presidential Honor Roll student athlete in his senior year, graduating last spring.

Team Canada lost its first game against Team USA in the final 30 seconds of the game, by a score of 7 to 6.  They won their game against University of Virginia, an NCAA Division I Championship team, by a score of 16 to 10.  They played a trial hybrid game Sunday against Team USA.  The intent of this hybrid game is a potential adaptation for future inclusion in the Olympic Games.
