As you know, our Canada Games Team Selection is on hiatus for the winter.  However, LNS is offering further high performance training opportunities for those in our program that are not currently involved with dry land training in other in-season sports.  This is an effort to continue to provide all our athletes with opportunities to progress their training through 2021.  These opportunities are not mandatory.

We are offering an opportunity for 25 male and 25 female athletes to have a fitness evaluation at the Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic in Halifax at the Canada Games Centre.  This is the facility that many Canada Games athletes train in.

We have court space booked for Sunday, Feb 21 (female) & Sunday, Feb 28 (male), 10:45am -12:45pm. This is the first phase of our 16U Flight Program.  This evaluation can be done by up to 50 athletes.

From there, 15 male and 15 female athletes can participate in a weekly gym program set up by the CSCA trainers starting on Sunday, March 7 and continuing on to May 2, with the exception of March 20.  It will be one hour per week and the sessions are 10:45-11:45 am for female athletes and 11:45am-12:45pm for male athletes.  For those athletes already working out in a gym, they can take the program and use it at their gym.

In addition, we will have a weekly two-hour on-floor session at the Gray Arena in Dartmouth starting February 20 and continuing for 8 weeks, every Saturday, with the exception of March 20, to April 17, from 9-11am for male athletes and 1-3pm for female athletes.  As well, there will be nutritional and sport performance sessions with CSCA facilitators, TBA.

For those attending the CSCA evaluations:

We won't be able to get on the courts until 10:45, but it will be important for us to get on them asap. We suggest the following:

Athlete arrival: 5-15 minutes early.
Coach arrival: 30 minutes early to review testing protocols etc.

Flow of testing:
- Athletes enter building & hand over completed pre-participation forms, then get their height/weight recorded.
- Athletes proceed to court for warm-up at 10:45. Masks can be removed once warm-up begins.
- Group divides to circuit through 3 testing stations; at least 1 coach/tester at each station. Tests are vertical jump, 10 or 20m sprint (space permitting), and isometric mid-thigh pull strength test.
- Beep test (whole group or half the group x 2)

Athletes are required to bring the attached forms completed with parent/guardian input to testing, or they will be unable to participate. Athletes must also fill out the below online form prior to testing:
